Harksen's HPL Blog of the Unspeakable

Just a Beginning

This is the very first attempt to incorporate a Blog to my website concerning matters Lovecraftian. So bear with me if this ends up looking a little weird.

Two More + Misc. News

H. P. LovecraftPosted by Harksen Wednesday, September 10 2008 00:24:26

Submissions are now closed to hplmythos.com #1, ELDRITCH HORRORS: DARK TALES. Thanks to everyone who submitted a story.

The last two added to the acceptance pile are:

Simon Bleaken: "Ashanna's Whispers"

Ron Shiflet [surname now corrected; sorry, Ron!]: "Out of the Frying Pan"

--Two very cool stories!

A total of 14 stories. Not bad, not bad. It's going to be a quite large-sized book (also considering that some of the stories are in the vicinity of 10,000 words).

... And there's also a few new publication surprises. More news about them soonsmiley

-----------

THE FUTURE DANISH PUBLICATIONS - brief update:

I have also received several ms. for both hplmythos.dk #2 and the still-untitled horror collection of a more diverse nature. Thanks to everyone who have contacted me. I hope you have all received a reply from me--either about acceptance/rejection or about when I hope to return.

I will post a list soon, featuring the first stories already accepted. They are great!smiley

As a final word this time: Please understand that I do not necessarily have the time to read through each and every ms. within days; more likely it's going to take a month or two.

This is, after all, something I--still--do in what little free time I have, and next to Real Life work and marriage (with a baby coming up at the end of the year). And I refuse to read them through too hasty, just to save some time.

More anon.

HPLMYTHOS.COM: Artist Found

H. P. LovecraftPosted by Harksen Sunday, August 10 2008 11:40:50

Eldritch Horrors: Dark Tales (hplmythos.com#1) will feature illustrations by the weird, Danish artist Jørgen Mahler Elbang. He too is a fan of Lovecraft and the dark regions the Dreamer of Providence spawned--so I can't imagine a more suitable artist. I am very proud to have him onboard.

We're talking about cover illustration in color as well as interior b/w illustrations. Believe me--you're in for a treat!

Here's a link showcasing some of his paintings: http://hjem.get2net.dk/mahler-elbang/

This is so excitingsmiley

Good news this rather bleak Sunday, right?

New Story accepted...

H. P. LovecraftPosted by Harksen Thursday, July 17 2008 13:47:20

Just a brief update this time...

I've just accepted the intriguing paranormal investigator story, "A Haunting From Beyond" written by Benjamin Szumskyj. So now we have 10 great stories for HPLMYTHOS.COM #1, to be published later this year--and more to come. Yeah!

More soon. On this as well as some of my Danish projects, where things are cooking too.

Here's the direct link to info on deadlines and such (currently still only available on the Danish site): http://www.hplmythos.dk/nyeprojekter.htm

For now,

Henrikus

HPLMYTHOS.COM update

H. P. LovecraftPosted by Harksen Tuesday, June 17 2008 14:20:31

Here's the latest update... Pardon the brevity, but time is short--yet I want to share this with yousmiley

Manuscripts are now arriving at my e-doorstep on a regular basis. That goes for both Danish and English projects, but right now I want to focus on the first English one from H. Harksen Productions, with the Series title, HPLMYTHOS.COM (yes, yes, I know I have to put stuff on that site soon, and I will. Soon. Promise!...smiley)

Here's what has been accepted so far:--

List of authors & their stories accepted for the anthology (in random order):

Paul S. Kemp: "One Thousand and One Words"

W. H. Pugmire: "Recompense of Sorrow" (brand-new Sesqua Valley!)

Gary Hill: "Rest in Peace, Jeremy Randall"

Thomas Strømsholt: "Devouring Darkness Hovers"

Paul Mackintosh: "The People of the Island"

Leigh Blackmore: "The Return of Zoth-Ommog"

Don Webb: "The Jest of Yig"

Henrik Sandbeck Harksen: "The Bibliophile"

Dan Clore: "The Dying God"

Truth be told, there are more stories that have been accepted, but I'd rather not lift the veil until I and the authors have settled on exactly what one story to include. (Yes, some authors have sent me several interesting tales, which is a-okay with me, but I can only use one per author in this publication.)

Final deadline for submissions is still August 30, 2008. See more on http://www.hplmythos.dk/nyeprojekter.htm.

I will keep you posted when there's more exciting tales added to the table of contents. In the meanwhile--keep those stories comin'smiley

Updates re. Cthulhu Mythos Material etc.

H. P. LovecraftPosted by Harksen Thursday, May 08 2008 21:08:10

Hi again,

Phew, it's been a while. And so much has happened since last I wrote here. I apologize...

The HPLMYTHOS.DK #1 has been selling quite well and steady since February. More than I anticipated--which, of course, is great. Neither I nor the authors are going to get rich because of it, but at least there's going to be some payment on their bank account when that time comes. Something that pleases me immensely--they sure deserve itsmiley

The book can also be found at various libraries. Check out www.bibliotek.dk to find out if it's slithering on some dark shelf near your homesmiley

Hopefully, soon you can order it online on the various, larger Danish net sites, and in bookstores as well (currently you can only find it in Arnold Busck, Odense gågade). I've made steps to ensure that but can't quite figure out how long it will take till it's actualized. More on that when I know it...

UPCOMING PROJECTS:

Within the next couple of days I will post some news on this on the www.hplmythos.dk website (gotta run the text by the webmaster first) but I want to share the good news with you here as well--

Mss. are coming in from around the world to the English HPLMYTHOS project (now retitled "hplmythos.com", btw), and it is looking good so far. Very good.

In fact, I am proud to announce that this project will feature, among others, a brand-new Sesqua Valley story by Willum H. Pugmire, not to mention the chilling "One Thousand and One Words" by famous Forgotten Realms author, Paul S. Kemp!

Ain't that something, folks?smiley

Good, intriguing stories are showing up on my virtual doorstep to the broader Danish anthology (no title yet) as well. That one's focusing on horror tales, weird tales and all kinds of sinister, dark stories--and does not have a Lovecraftian/Cthulhu Mythos spin.

Interested? Check out more on this link: http://www.hplmythos.dk/nyeprojekter.htm

Feel free to submit a ms. I can promise that I will read it--and that's the first step towards publication, right?smiley

More to come...
